Chocolate Skillet Cake

Ingredients

  • 4 T Unsalted Butter
  • ½ C Semisweet Chocolate Chips
  • ¼ C Granulated Sugar
  • 2 T Brown Sugar
  • 1 Large Egg
  • ½ tsp Vanilla Extract
  • ¼ C All-Purpose Flour
  • 2 T Cocoa Powder
  • ¼ tsp Kosher Salt
  • Vanilla Ice Cream or Whipped Cream, for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Place a small oven-safe skillet (6–7 inches) inside while it warms.
  2. Melt the butter and chocolate together, in a small saucepan over low heat, stirring until smooth.
  3. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  4. Whisk the sugars into the chocolate mixture until combined.
  5. Add the egg and vanilla, stirring until glossy and smooth.
  6. Gently stir in flour, cocoa powder, and salt just until combined. The batter should be thick but spreadable.
  7. Carefully remove the hot skillet from the oven and lightly grease it.
  8. Spread the batter evenly and return to the oven.
  9. Bake for 14–18 minutes, until the edges are set but the center is still soft.
  10. Let rest for 5 minutes.
  11. Top with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream and serve straight from the skillet.
