Irish Cheddar & Herb Soda Bread with Whiskey Honey Butter

Ingredients

For the Soda Bread

  • 2 C All-Purpose Flour
  • 1 C Whole Wheat Flour
  • 1 tsp Baking Soda
  • 1 tsp Kosher Salt
  • 1 T Fresh Thyme, chopped
  • 1 T Fresh Parsley, chopped
  • 1 C Sharp Irish Cheddar, shredded
  • 1 ½ C Buttermilk

For the Whiskey Honey Butter 

  •  ½ C Softened Butter
  • 1 T Irish Whiskey
  • 1 T Honey
  • Pinch Flaky Sea Salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F. Whisk flours, baking soda, and salt in a large bowl.
  2. Fold in fresh herbs and shredded cheddar.
  3. Pour in buttermilk and stir until a shaggy dough forms.
  4. Turn dough onto a floured surface and gently shape into a round loaf.
  5. Score a deep cross across the top of the loaf.
  6. Transfer to a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  7. Bake 35–40 minutes until golden and hollow-sounding when tapped.
  8. Whisk butter, whiskey, honey, and salt until smooth.
  9. Slice bread slightly warm and serve with whiskey honey butter.
